In my family, there are several reasons for us to get the flu shot. My family is made up of a family that has countless of disabilities that if we caught the flu could spell trouble for us. When my daughter Cyndy was a live every year the doctors would insist that the whole clan would get the vaccine on or around the 1st of October. Cyndy was so susceptible to getting seriously ill that the least of bugs would put her into the hospital being very life threatening.
Even now, that Cyndy has gone to be with the Lord there have been other disabilities that could cause the effects of the flu to be very damaging to our family. My family is made up of serious heart problems, seizures, asthma, and children that have mental disabilities. Then to add another issue is that our family is so large that the flu would go through the whole family. Lord help me then if one or more gets the flu at the same time, someone in the family becomes the maid that has to help everybody else. Usually that will fall on me the mom, even if I am not feeling the best. Worst too of getting the flu then that is when you have six kids throwing up all over creation leaving a mess to be cleaned up.
At least now that we have had the flu shots for the last twenty-three years very few of us have had the flu. I am very thankful the scientist that have come up with vaccines when I think about all the deaths that occurred in the early 1900’s. Now with all the advances made in the medical field nowhere as many people die from the flu as it use to be. Hopefully one day, it might not be in my lifetime that the flu will no longer be wide spread on the earth. Science will have come up with a way to do away with the flu all together. At least right now, we have vaccines that have covered us for at least six months during the flu season. But if only there was a way, that science could come up with a way that the viruses will not be able to mutate. Or is it that the flu virus is the way that nature keeps the world from over populating?
Some of the issues with the flu are that many other illnesses can stem off the flu causing serious illnesses. The flu drains every bit of your energy, which makes it bad on the weak and the elderly people. The virus could cause a bacteria infection to start causing the weak and the elderly to get pneumonia, a problem where the lungs fill with fluid causing them not to be able to breathe and unable to fight off any more complications that will stem off from the flu.
Now a days most companies that have abundant of workers offer the flu shot because of the virus being so contagious that could leave the company to have an epidemic of people out of work for a long period of time. There has been a time that companies have had to close down for days where the building has had to be sprayed down to get rid of the virus. It is becoming now more of a requirement in most places of work to have the flu vaccine.
Now that the flu season is in full season in the United States hopefully, you have had your flu short so that you won’t find yourself suffering several days or up to two weeks from the flu. It has been said that not always can you escape the flu if you have had the flu shot but the flu would last about seventy-two hours verses two weeks, plus you are not as sick or would you have other issues stemming from the flu.
